The Dream Factory, Inc. is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children between the ages of three and eighteen. When South Central Bell employee Charles Henault founded the Dream Factory in Hopkinsville, Kentucky in 1980, his goal was to create an all-volunteer organization dedicated to granting the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses. Today, The Dream Factory operates 32 chapters across the United States and grants an average of 350 dreams each year (or about one every day). A variety of dreams have been granted, including trips to Disney World, shopping sprees and meetings with celebrities and athletes. Currently, The Dream Factory enjoys the assistance of over 5,000 dedicated volunteers who have helped fulfill more than 22,500 dreams since 1980 and who have created a multitude of enduring memories for the children and families involved.
